HELP ME NOT TO DOUBT
| 9/26/09 “Have mercy on us and help us. Do something if you can.” “What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” The father instantly replied, “I do believe, but help me not to doubt.” Mark 9:22b-24 (NLT) The father of a demon possessed child had faith enough to bring his son to Jesus to be healed. Doubt set in when the disciples failed to cast the demon out of the child. He now questioned Jesus’ ability to do anything. Jesus’ rebuke pointed out that the key was a person’s faith, not Jesus’ ability. Faith makes anything possible. The father’s immediate response was to believe and to ask Jesus to help him not to doubt when things look impossible. Every Christian needs to have this kind of faith in the face of what looks impossible to us. God has the power and ability to do anything and all things. We need to keep our minds focused on Him and not on our own limited vision. PRAYER: Dear God, Help me to not doubt Your willingness or ability to defeat the enemy in my life and in the lives of my loved ones. Increase my faith that You can and will do the impossible. Help me to listen to Jesus and not to the doubts spoken by the enemy. Bind all doubt and unbelief in my life. |
