BE THANKFUL AND PRAY FOR THE SALVATION OF OTHERS

11/7/09

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. As you make your requests, plead for God’s mercy upon them, and give thanks. …This is good and pleases God our Savior, for He wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. I Tim. 2:1-4 (NLT)

Christians must develop an active prayer life especially for unbelievers. God’s desire is for everyone to be saved and to understand that Jesus is the only way we can be reconciled to God. The awesome knowledge of our salvation despite our sinfulness should fill us with thanksgiving and a crying out for God’s mercy on all who have not yet received forgiveness.

Because God desires all to be saved, every Christian must turn aside from self-centeredness and become more aware of and concerned for the lost especially those who are family members and acquaintances. We need to be more diligent about pleading for God’s mercy on them. This is also a continued reminder to become filled with thanksgiving.

PRAYER: Dear God, Please forgive my self-centeredness and lack of thanksgiving again. Thank You for Your great patience with me as I fall so short of all You have called me to be. Please melt my heart and give me a thankful heart that sees people as You see them. Help me to be more faithful to pray for salvation for those You have given me to pray for. Do not let my lack of prayer keep anyone out of Your kingdom.
