Word of the Week
GOOD WORKS FOLLOW RECEIVING MERCY
| 11/14/09 He saved us, not because of the good things we did, but because of His mercy. He washed away our sins and gave us a new life through the Holy Spirit. …(Because of this) everyone who trusts in God will be careful to do good deeds all the time. Titus 3:5, 8 (NLT) We all have sinful thoughts, words, and deeds in our past. It was only through God’s mercy that we have been saved and our sins washed away. We were unable to do good things on our own. Thanksgiving and joy should fill every Christian. We have been given a new life through the Holy Spirit. He enables us to do good works now. We should always be alert to His promptings so that we will do good works all the time. As Christians, if we think more often about what we have received through Jesus, we will be more filled with thanksgiving and more eager to listen to and follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit to do good works for God’s glory all the time. We all fall short too often, but this should be our goal. PRAYER: Dear God, Help me to be more thankful and to deeply acknowledge all that You are and all that You have done for me. Forgive me for often being complacent. Help me honor You in all I do. Help me to do good deeds for Your glory each day. |
