REVERENCE, OBEDIENCE, PRAISE
| 11/21/09 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever. Psalm 111:10 (NKJV) Reverence for the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom. The rewards of wisdom come to all who obey Him. Praise His name forever! Psalm 111:10 (NLT) True wisdom is centered in God not in education, self, or anything else the world holds up as making one wise. When once we open our eyes to see the evidences of God, we begin to realize the extent of His power and majesty, and we are in awe of Him. We begin to be wise. This reverence for God is the foundation of true wisdom for as we truly see ourselves in relation to God, we willingly become obedient to Him. We begin to understand spiritually and to grow in wisdom. Our lives are blessed as we submit ourselves to God. To the extent that we are obedient and willing to submit our will to do God’s will, we are blessed. Our spirit thrives, our spiritual understanding grows, and we praise Him more and more. Yet when we willfully focus on ourselves rather than on all God is and all He has done for us, we do not live in wisdom, understanding, or blessing. PRAYER: Dear God, Help me to keep my eyes on You and all You have blessed me with. Please forgive my self-centeredness and not trusting You with my future. You have held my past and my present so why should I be concerned about my future as long as You are there? |
