Word of the Week
BLESSED AND CHOSEN BY GOD
| 12/12/09 ‘…from the day that the foundation of the Lord’s temple was laid… But from this day forward I will bless you. …for I have chosen you,’ says the Lord of hosts. Haggai 2:18, 19, 23 (NKJV) God spoke to the remnant of Israel and to Zerubbabel with words of blessing and affirmation. He pointed out the futility of trusting in the works of their hands to provide blessing and abundance in their lives while turning their backs on God and His temple. But once they returned and committed themselves to rebuilding, God promised to bless them from now on. Then He affirmed them magnificently with the words, “I have chosen you.” Just as for the children of Israel, God will bless us from the very day that we accept Jesus as our Savior laying the foundation of God dwelling with us. And the marvel is that it is God, not us, who first loved and chose us. This should lift our spirits when we feel tired, discouraged, or down. We need to contemplate those four words, “I have chosen you,” until they are firmly rooted and planted deep within our soul. How awesome! PRAYER: Dear God, Thank you for loving me and choosing me. I give You my life. I want You to be my foundation and guiding light as I live my life for You. |
