ENDURE WITH EYES FIXED ON GOD

1/16/10

It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt. He was not afraid of the king. Moses kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible. Heb. 11:27 (NLT)

By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible. (NKJV)

Moses was raised in the king’s palace, and all the power, prestige, riches, and pleasures of Egypt were his. Yet he abandoned all that his life in Egypt offered and left Egypt to join himself with the people of God in the midst of their oppression. He had the faith to believe God rather than fear the king. He had faith to keep following the word of God no matter what happened in the physical realm. He persisted even when the circumstances he saw and experienced seemed hopeless. His faith allowed him to see the invisible promises of God (still unfulfilled) as more real than the situations he found himself in that he saw with his own eyes.

Every Christian has been called to leave a life of sin (Egypt) behind. We must abandon our old life with the temptations and promises of power, prestige, pleasure, and riches that sin offers. We must come to realize that all this is fleeting and false. When we make God our king and willingly follow, serve, and obey Him, Satan (king of the world) will be angry and rage against us, but he has no power against us, and we need not fear Him. We must keep right on going no matter what our physical eyes see in our present circumstances because the promises of God are to be trusted and are more real for they will come to pass. We must keep our eyes on God in faith and refuse to be sidetracked by problems or trials.

PRAYER: Dear God, I have left my life of sin to follow You through faith. Please keep my faith strong and my vision clear so I will only see You. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on You especially when Satan rages against me through attacks on my loved ones. Your word and Your promises are the only reality there is. Thank You for that precious gift of faith.
